MISSION & HISTORY

For more than 100 hundred years, Beacon Haven and its predecessors have served as a center for Christian Science activity in the area, awakening people to care for themselves and each other.

Beacon Haven was incorporated in 1922 as Star of Bethlehem Home in Minnesota to create the first facility outside of Boston serving those who rely on Christian Science for healing. The proposal to start this mission began as a gift presented by a group of students of Miss Abigail Dyer Thompson during a dinner on Christmas Eve, 1920.
